THE CLA EXPERIENCE

Happy and eager students, engaging teachers, supportive families within a caring and nurturing community, on an open and beautiful campus …  this is the CLA experience!

The CLA experience for a student, involves educating the “whole child.”  Each student is valued and nurtured to develop intellectually, emotionally, physically and spiritually.  The CLA program components including a comprehensive and challenging curriculum, the Guiding Principles, the compassionate and skilled teachers, the community service (KIDS CARE) efforts all facilitate special, life-changing experiences for the boys, girls and families of CLA.

The aim of CLA is to develop thoughtful, capable, and confident citizens eager to engage in an ever-changing world.  CLA lays the groundwork and develops the skills and qualities for students to excel at the high school and college levels, as well as to contribute to their community in meaningful and important ways.

CLA students strive to be:

Inquirers - CLA students acquire skills necessary to become independent critical thinkers.  By developing their natural curiosity, they nourish a love of learning that will be sustained throughout their lifetimes.

Communicators - CLA students effectively express ideas and information with creativity and confidence.  Independently and in collaboration with others, they are able to express their thoughts and ideas.  

Principled - CLA students take responsibility for their own actions and the accompanying consequences.  Honesty, integrity and mutual respect are the pervasive guiding principles.  

Risk-takers - CLA students are encouraged to explore new ideas
and strategies.  In unfamiliar situations they are confident and eager to explore new possibilities.

Caring - CLA students have a personal commitment to service and take action to have a positive impact on the lives of others and their surrounding environment.  They are compassionate, empathetic and respectful to the needs of others.

Thinkers - CLA students are critical thinkers.  They approach complex problems with creativity and apply critical thinking skills to aid them in making reasoned decisions.
